The Meeting room is the Simulation Lab
For most of the history of clinical simulation, the sim center was the starting point. You needed the space, the manikins, the technicians, the scheduling system, and the budget. If you had those, you could deliver high-quality simulation. If you didn’t, your options were limited.
This has always been especially challenging for community and rural hospitals. These are the settings where nurses face high-stakes, low-frequency events like sepsis, maternal hemorrhage, or pediatric deterioration, often with few opportunities to practice before those situations arise.
Today, simulation is no longer limited to the sim center.
A nurse can step into an available room, work through a realistic AI-powered patient encounter, receive immediate feedback, and repeat the scenario as needed, without waiting for facilitator availability or access to a dedicated simulation lab. Whether it’s delivered on a screen or in VR, meaningful practice can happen almost anywhere.
That means simulation fits into the spaces nurses already use.
A conference room between meetings. An empty office before a shift. A quiet room on the unit. Wherever there’s time to focus, reflect, and practice.
For smaller hospitals, this removes one of the biggest barriers to building strong residency and workforce development programs. For larger organizations, it helps solve a different challenge: educator capacity.
Facilitator time has always been one of simulation’s scarcest resources. When learners can complete realistic scenarios independently, educators can spend more time debriefing and supporting learners instead of running every simulation session.
The meeting room hasn’t changed.
What has changed is what it can now become: a place where nurses build the confidence and clinical judgment they’ll need when it matters most.
